Fundraising 101 for Entrepreneurs

Trying to start up a new business? Then you will need to raise some money to build the team and the product that will take your business to the next level. In this workshop, you will learn the “How’s” from a seasoned entrepreneur who had co-founded several companies and successfully raised significant capital for his companies. The workshop will take place on April 4th, from 7 PM – 9 PM. RSVP here.

One-on-One Mentoring with a Professional

Seasoned professionals in business and technology will be on site to mentor entrepreneurs and students – whether you have an idea to start a business or are seeking career advice, you will get tried and true advice from those who’s been there and done that. The event will take place from March 11th – May 27th, 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM (every Monday). RSVP here.

Code But Why – A Collective to Learn Coding

The Tech Incubator at Queens College will host a new collective called: “Code But Why”, every Thursday evening, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The purpose of this collective is for those who want to learn coding with others, in a self-directed and peer-supported environment. This collective is free and open to all who want to learn coding and apply what they learn to solve real world problems. The event will take place on March 7th – May 30th, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (every Thursday). RSVP here.

Social Impact Fellowship – Application Open to all Queens College Students, Faculty and Staff

The Tech Incubator is starting a new initiative: “Inventing the Future” (IFI). Their goal is to invite broad participation from entrepreneurs and change makers from the college and the local communities to share their talent and resources, to collaborate, and to jointly tackle the toughest challenges we face and to scale their impact. The Social Impact Fellowship will be the first project under the IFI initiative. Applications run from March 3rd to March 30th, RSVP here.

As part of the fellowship, receive a training scholarship to attend a two day “Human-Centered Design Bootcamp” on April 23 and 24. RSVP here.

NYS Business Plan Competition – Regional competition

Register for the NYS Business Plan Competition before April 5th, in this competition, you will pitch your idea in 10 minutes and answer questions from judges for 5 minutes, you will have a chance to win prize money, receive business support, obtain advice, gain exposure and credibility. The competition will take place on April 5th, 10 AM – 2:00 PM. RSVP here.
