The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Monroe College to establish the Flushing Tech Boot Camp.  Members of the Flushing Chamber are be eligible for tuition discounts.

The goal of the Tech Boot Camp is to help meet the growing demand for information technology (IT) professionals with enhanced technical knowledge and coding skills.  The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates job openings for software developers and web developers will grow more than 20 percent.

“We are excited to partner with the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce to offer convenient and affordable program in the Flushing community to those interested in gaining the essential coding and technical skills required for entry-level or early-career IT positions,” said Evan Jerome, Senior Vice President at Monroe College.

The Flushing Tech Boot Camp offers students two five-week Introductory courses and one 10-week Foundation course focusing on software development and coding for today’s digital economy. Instruction for beginners is given in HTML5, CSS3 and Java Script for Responsive Web Design. Advanced student continue into tracks focusing on Mobile App Development, Open Source Web Technologies, and Microsoft Technologies.

The Tech Boot Camp’s first introductory course, Foundation Class, will begin on Saturday, October 15th and run for ten weeks. The three career track programs will follow in January.  Classes will be held at Monroe College’s Queens Extension Center, which is located at 135-16 Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing and is easily accessible via the 7 subway train. Complimentary parking is available for enrollees at the Sheraton La-Guardia East Hotel.
