A Queens-based food writer, culinary tour guide and consultant, Joe DiStefano has been exploring our borough’s diverse global cuisines for more than a decade. Grub Street called him “The Guy Who Ate Queens” and The New York Times hailed him as an “invaluable food sleuth.”
An intrepid eater and explorer, Joe is widely recognized by such culinary luminaries as Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern as a go-to source on our borough’s rich tapestry of cuisines and cultures from Michelin-starred temples of gastronomy to actual Thai and Hindu temples where food is served. Joe will try any kind of food at least once.
Joe is the founder and publisher of the Queenscentric food blog CHOPSTICKS & MARROW, which focuses on all the amazing food he has tasted in Queens. He is also the Communications Director of New York Epicurean Events, a Catskill Mountains-based producer of premier farm-to-table food and wine festivals as well as educational programs.
Joe’s work has appeared in The New York Times, Gourmet, The Village Voice, Edible Queens, Food Republic, and Serious Eats. His clients include Starbucks, the Boys Club of New York, Hormel, The Food Group, and Next Restaurant.
You can join Joe on guided food tours to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of world-famous cuisines in Flushing, taste the Tibetan staple, tsampa, or Tibetan-Sichuan fusion at Phayul. It will be an experience not to be missed.
Apart from food tours in Queens and blogging about delicious food, Joe also dedicates time to writing a guide book about Queens for 111 Places.
Also, check out Joe’s next New York Epicurean Event at Flushing Town Hall featuring a tasting session helmed by the best charcuterie artisans —makers of sausages, patés, hams, salumi, and more. Learn more about this event on Sat, Feb 25th at Flushing Town Hall here.
