大法拉盛西商會再辦愛心湯籌款會

(紐約.羊展恬3日報導)為協助紐約社團籌措經費,幫助法拉盛社區,大法拉盛西商會(The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce)將在10月16日舉辦一場名為「SOUP」的籌款餐會,民眾只需花5元錢就能幫助社團服務法拉盛社區。同時,該會也歡迎各社團提出良方來協助法拉盛發展。 大法拉盛西商會執行主任崔容準表示,這項籌款的概念來自於底特律,在2013年這個城市因經濟破產而衰敗不堪,當地居民為求生存發展而想出由社區草根性社團支持籌募經費下繼續推動地方建設,這次的「SOUP」活動,將是也是該會在紐約地區舉辦的第二年草根性籌款餐會,去年這項活動籌募了800多元經費,由Earth Citizens Organization(ECO)的社團以「認養法拉盛清潔街道計劃」(圖)奪標,並使用籌募的經費,自去年5月31日開始進行一週清潔街道計劃,將法拉盛市中心的羅斯福大道自緬街到友聯街兩旁的人行道及地鐵車站一帶,清掃的煥然一新。 該會表示,「愛心湯」籌款會當晚,將邀請4個社團代表出席,向支持餐會的人士說明社團將在社區推動的計劃,並由出席代表投票表決出最高票的社團,可獲得此次籌款的所有經費。凡針對法拉盛東北地區提出改進法拉盛地區方案的社團可在9月25日之前向大法拉盛西商會提出申請。 活動時間:10月16日下午4點,地點:法拉盛北方大道137之16號的貴格會所(Flushing Quaker Meeting House)。更多詳情可上網www.flushingchamber.nyc查詢。   Link to original article here.

法拉盛 夜市雨中登場 30義工獲表揚

「法拉盛夜市」昨晚進行第三次系列活動,市議員顧雅明頒發感謝狀給協助舉辦活動的義工代表。(羊展恬攝) (紐約·羊展恬報導)由大法拉盛西商會主辦的第二屆「法拉盛夜市」活動,昨日​傍晚在法拉盛高中舉行第三次系列活動,雖然在傍晚時分受到陣雨影響,民眾紛紛前往各處躲雨,中斷了節目,但仍有不少民眾攜家帶眷在夜市走走看看。為感謝義工的熱心參與,市議員顧雅明昨晚也頒發感謝狀給30位協助舉辦活動的義工們。   顧雅明對大法拉盛西商會舉辦夜市活動給予大力的支持與鼓勵,他希望透過夜市活動能更引起外地遊客或其他地區民眾到法拉盛來消費及購物,藉此機會連繫到法拉盛各族裔民眾聚在一起。顧雅明說,因為夜市是許多亞洲地區國家的文化特色,也是紐約市其他地方少見的。商會理事李芳也特別感謝義工及商家對活動的支持與協助,希望活動愈辦愈好。 大法拉盛西商會執行主任崔容準則表示,「法拉盛夜市」不但為了向居民推介當地餐館及小商家,也是各族裔社區展現文化特色的平台,促進不同族裔間的和諧相處。他感謝來自各地的30位青年義工們,協助進行各項準備工作。8月26日將是今年「法拉盛夜市」的最後一場,屆時將邀請多位亞裔青年流行樂手在現場演出,並以”718 Love”為主題,要展現出大家喜愛法拉盛,及喜愛法拉盛地區的飲食與文化.
