本報記者陳裕光紐約報道：大紐約西商會(Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce)與門羅大學(Monroe College)聯合舉辦「現在是英語」(English Now)課程，第一期學生昨(24日)早上舉行結業典禮，十多位華人移民男女學生，西裔及不同族裔學員完成包括英語為第二語言，商務實用英語等基本課程，從門羅大學資深副主席Evan Jerome手上領取了證書，Evan Jerome強調課程設計是加強學生的英語說講能力，增強社交與工作上說英語的自信心，對就業和做生意都有所幫助，大紐約西商會執行主任崔容準等到場祝賀。 在紐約從事國際貿易的蘇小姐是畢業學員之一，她現身說法的表示，自己在中國大陸雖然有英文基礎，但來到美國之後就感覺到英語能力不足，對自己的工作有很大障礙，參加了「現在是英語」學習，與別人溝通，自信心增強了不少。 Evan Jerome代表該校向參加英語課程上午及下午班的同學們祝賀，同時他強調了這項以有基本英語水平學生為對象的「現在是英語」課程，不但是讓一些在母國完成了高中學歷，部分更有專業學識的人士，在紐約地區重返校園學習英語，在12周的密集課程中學習到中級以上的英語，課程設計有會話和寫作、商務禮節等，重點在加強職場上必要的英文技能為主，讓學生在短時間內把到英語對話，寫作課程使學生在工作崗位看懂文件與回信等技巧，增強在職業領域的競爭能力。 大紐約西商會執行主任崔容準指出，「現在是英語」課程是該會的職業技能服務項目，學生須擁有高中學歷。學生通過這項英語課程，對就業和社交等溝通能力有很大的幫助。 第二期的「現在是英語」開始招生，7月10日截止報名，費用全免，只收取講義費40元。查詢課程和入學資格，可與崔容準John Choe 1(646)820-5163或info@flushingchamber.nyc聯繫。報名與上課地點：法拉盛羅斯福大道135-16號4樓，索取報名表格請致電1(914)740-6614，或發送電郵至queens@monroecollege.edu。 Link to original article here.
