Need to Grow your Business? Applications for the FREE Mini-MBA Emerging Leaders Training is now Open!

Emerging Leaders is a FREE, eight-month course available to entrepreneurs poised for growth and who are willing to dedicate 100 hours of classroom time to the development of their companies. Graduates finish the program with a three-year growth plan. 

Emerging Leaders also provides opportunities for small business owners to learn from experienced coaches and mentors, attend workshops, and develop connections with their peers, local leaders, and the financial community.

Qualifications to apply for Emerging Leaders:

  • At least $250,000 in annual sales 
  • At least 3 years in business
  • At least 1 employee in addition to the owner
  • Participant must be a key decision maker within the company such as the CEO, COO, CFO, Owner, or President.

The program requires participants to commit a total of 100 hours, including 40 hours of classroom training (13 evenings on Tuesdays at Yonkers Library and Thursdays at Microsoft Times Square), 7 CEO mentoring meetings, and course work assignments from May to November. At the end of the program, participants will have a three year strategic plan tailored to their business, as well as a network of business resources that they can utilize well into the future.

Business PREP Grants

You may be eligible for an on-site, one-on-one risk assessment through the New York City Department of Small Business Services. Following the assessment, you may be eligible to receive a grant of up to $3,000 to buy items and equipment recommended for your business. Apply here.

Get you business NYC M/WBE Certified!

Getting certified is a great way to grow your business and do business with the City of New York. City Agencies reach out to certified firms whenever new contract opportunities open and these businesses gain millions of dollars from these contracts each year.

 

To be eligible for NYC M/WBE certification:

  1. You have to be legally authorized to do business in New York State
  2. You have to have been in business for at least one year
  3. At least 51% of your business is owned, operated, and controlled by a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident who is a woman and/or a member of a designated minority group including: Black, Hispanic, Asian-Pacific, or Asian-Indian
  4. Your business has to be a:
    • Sole proprietorship
    • Limited liability company (LLC)
    • Corporation
    • Limited liability partnership (LLP)
    • Limited Partnership (LP)
    • General Partnership
  5. The business’ principal office, place of business, or headquarters is located within the five boroughs of New York City or in one of the following counties of New York and New Jersey:
