The newest member of the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce is Thomas V. Lugo, owner of New York’s Finest Private Investigative Services, LLC. Mr. Lugo is an accomplished private investigator with a distinguished record of service in the United States military and the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Mr. Lugo earned an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Suffolk Community College and then graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology. Mr. Lugo successfully completed the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at Hoftra University and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army.
Mr. Lugo then entered the Graduate Studies in Public Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University and continued to serve in the Army, where he eventually rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel.
As Crisis Watch Officer at the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID), Mr. Lugo was instrumental in the planning and executing the CID’s investigation into the September 11th attack on the Pentagon and the creation of a Joint Criminal Investigation Task Force to investigate suspects in the Taliban and Al Qaeda. At daily briefings with the Chief of Staff of the Army and the Secretary of the Army in the Army Operation Center at the Pentagon, Mr. Lugo was responsible for working with other headquarters to acquire information and prepare and present informational briefings to the CID staff, subordinate Commands, and the Commanding General.
Mr. Lugo also had a distinguished career in the New York Police Department, starting as a patrol officer in the 103rd Precinct in Queens, where he became the Latent Print Officer — responsible for dusting and lifting fingerprints and testifying in court as latent finger print expert. In 1990, Mr. Lugo achieved the record of #1 in latent print hits in NYC. Mr. Lugo became an undercover detective in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, where he was eventually promoted to Detective Investigator in the Narcotics Division. As Detective Investigator, Mr. Lugo was responsible for narcotics investigations, confidential informants, prisoner debriefings, and conducting search warrants. As Property Officer for the Queens Narcotics Division, Mr. Lugo was also accountable for managing thousands of dollars in U.S. currency, prisoners’ property, and weapons.
In 2004, Mr. Lugo established New York’s Finest Private Investigative Services, LLC. As the owner, Mr. Lugo provides a complete range of services, including investigations for criminal and civil cases, missing persons, and personal injury. Mr. Lugo also provides background checks, latent prints, computer forensics, counter surveillance, assigned counsel/18B cases, and law guardian cases.
