Event info below: The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce is thankful for the opportunity to serve our community. Please join us as we enjoy and express gratitude for our rich history, diverse cultures, bustling energy, amazing food and businesses! #FlushingFantastic: https://conta.cc/3WwOcqx We dedicated Rantus Rock & Garden at Queens College today in honor of entrepreneur and civil rights leader Wilson Rantus (1807-1861) who fought against slavery and discrimination, published an African-American newspaper, and established a school for Black children in Queens. Rantus owned a large farm, adjacent to the present day campus of Queens College, bounded by Main Street, Gravett Road, Melbourne Avenue and 149th Street, which included a cemetery where he was buried. Our neighbor, Anila Pandaya, died in the hospital recently from medical complications. We delivered food to her every week. She was one of thousands our community helped thru #MutualAid during the past three years, struggling to survive during the pandemic https://photos.app.goo.gl/VuCUEfueLYZaowmKA Congratulations to Amit Shah, Pradip Shrestha, and the Nepalese American business community leaders who gathered this week to begin the process of forming the Greater New York Nepalese Chamber of Commerce. We were honored to participate and advise the participants on the structure, and financing a 501c6 nonprofit membership organization. Best wishes for a happy and prosperous Dashain and upcoming Diwali celebration!
